At the AGM held on 24 October 2024, ASBD President Dr Peter Chin thanked the directors who are stepping down: Professor Elisabeth Elder, Dr Parisa Aminzadeh, and Dr Marcus Dreosti. We greatly appreciate their efforts, time, contributions, and collegiality throughout their time with ASBD.
We welcome several new directors who have been appointed, including:
DIRECTOR, RADIATION ONCOLOGY
Dr Angela Allen, BSc(Hons), MBBS(Hons), FRANZCR
Dr Angela Allen is a Radiation Oncologist with a subspecialty interest in breast cancer, working at The Royal Brisbane and Women’ Hospital (RBWH) and she consults for ICON at the Mater Private Hospital in Springfield. She studied at the University of Queensland and completed registrar training at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2014.
Dr Allen has been actively involved in The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), having served on numerous committees including Faculty Council and the International Medical Graduates Committee. She was a co-convenor for the RANZCR annual scientific meeting in Brisbane in 2023.
Dr Allen is passionate about education and is a Director of Training at the RBWH. She looks forward to contributing to the educational content for the ASBD.
DIRECTOR, SURGERY
Dr Samriti Sood, BSc (Med) MBBS (Hons) MS FRACS GradCertSurg (Breast Surgery)
Samriti is a Specialist Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon who offers expertise in the management of women with all breast related conditions. She is a trained general surgeon who sub-specialises in breast surgical oncology, utilising oncoplastic techniques and offering women reconstructive surgery.
Samriti graduated with honours in medicine from The University of New South Wales. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a member of General Surgeons Australia and the BreastSurgANZ Society. After completing general surgical training across major tertiary and regional NSW/ACT hospitals, she completed a Master of Surgery and a Graduate Certificate in Surgery (Breast Surgery) from The University of Sydney.
Samriti is an experienced surgeon and dedicated teacher who is involved in regular teaching activities for medical students and postgraduate students. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented in international & national scientific meetings. She continues to engage in regular research activities and is actively involved in clinical trials for breast cancer management.
DIRECTOR, RADIOLOGY
Dr Susan Grayson, BBioSc (Hons) MBBS FRANZCR
Dr Grayson is a Radiologist working in both public and private Radiology, primarily in the field of Breast Imaging. She has been passionate about Breast Imaging since completing her Fellowship with the Breast Cancer Institute (BCI) at Westmead in 2014.
Since then,she has has developed her skills through the roles of Designated Radiologist and Director of Training for BCI and Breastscreen Sydney West. Dr Grayson's secondary role currently is as the Director of Radiology for Westmead and Auburn Hospitals.This role includes workplace and culture reforms and process (including Accreditation) improvements.
Dr Grayson's passion lies in improving wider access to high quality and best practice healthcare, learning, practicing and teaching new breast imaging advancements in both Diagnostic and Screening platforms, and standardising the multidisciplinary environment for breast health.
